
Mayor’s office, a more beautiful setting, is new location for civil weddings in Seychelles.
Civil weddings that previously were held at the Civil Status office will now take place at the mayor’s office in Victoria. The change, which took effect Thursday, was immediately followed by three marriages.The principal civil status officer, Marietta Labrosse, said the change is taking place due to the size of the Civil Status office. “The office at civil status is too small. The registration of births and deaths are done there. On the contrary, this place (the mayor’s office) is bigger which allows couples to come with family and friends,” said Labrosse.

New educational exchanges to take place between Seychelles and Zhoushan city in China.
Residents in Seychelles are expected to benefit from more educational exchanges with Zhoushan, China following the signing of a new agreement between the city and Victoria, the capital of Seychelles. The Mayor of Victoria, David Andre, and the Secretary of Zhoushan Municipal Committee, Yu Donglai, signed an agreement called ‘Establishing Friendly Exchange City Relations’ on Friday.

As is customary every year, the island nation’s capital Victoria has been decorated with colourful lights that make the town comes alive every night.
